Glis–Glis
Glis–glis problems include property damage from gnawing on electrical cables, insulation, and wood, leading to fire risks and expensive repairs. They also cause noise disturbances and contamination from droppings and urine, and can damage crops and fruit trees. Dealing with them can be complicated by their protected status in the UK, which often requires the help of a licensed pest control expert.
Bedbugs
The main reason for controlling bed bugs is that they bite, and although there are no known disease risks associated with bed bug bites, they can cause acute irritation and distress. Everyone reacts differently to a bed bug bite; some develop red, irritating marks and lumps, while others do not react to the bites. The bites can be itchy and cause painful swelling, with excessive scratching sometimes leading to infections.
Wasps
Wasps are known for their nasty stings and seemingly unprovoked attacks. While their sting is painful it can, in some cases, be fatal (anaphylaxis), with children, the elderly, those with allergies, and even pets being sensitive to a sting. However, wasps will only usually attack if they feel threatened so the best course of action is to remain calm if a wasp is buzzing around you.
Rats
Rats communicate and mark their territory by urinating everywhere they go, representing a significant public health risk. They can carry many nasty diseases, which can spread to humans, normally through rats’ urine or body coming into contact with food preparation areas. And the problems associated with rats are not just limited to public health, as they also have a knack for causing structural damage gnawing on cables and pipes.
